New Mechanical Units at SAIT IEIC Calgary

The installation of new mechanical units at the SAIT IEIC in Calgary is an important part of upgrading the building’s mechanical infrastructure. But before the new equipment can be put into service, the existing building needs the right structural support.

To accommodate the new rooftop mechanical units, The Welding Shop Calgary added custom structural steel support structures into the existing building. The steel framework shown in the photo provides a strong, engineered platform designed to safely support the weight and loads associated with the new equipment.

Working on an existing building presents its own challenges. The new steel must be carefully designed, fabricated, and installed to integrate with the existing structure while allowing the mechanical equipment to be positioned correctly.

This project is another example of the important role structural steel plays behind the scenes, providing the strength and stability needed to modernize Calgary’s buildings and infrastructure.
